It's the same for me. I have the tools and the skill to build boards by hand, but I don't have a reflow oven or a pick'n'place machine so it's not economically viable in terms of my time.
I think what we need to do is get a fab house to quote on populating only the SMD components. Soldering the through-hole crystal and jumper-blocks is a very easy job, and will save assembly costs.
To give you some idea, this company will do 15 LX9 boards for just under $24 each. The price drops below $10 for 100x.
For the bridge board, we're looking at something like $16 per board for 15x. The price drops below $8 for 100x.
Another option is to find a hackerspace with the right tools. I know that in the USA, NullSpace in LA and NYC Resistor have reflow ovens & pick&place machines, but sadly all the hackerspaces here in the UK tend to be more at the "I can haz flashy LEDs on ma Arduino plz?" level. It's somewhat more likely that some of the hackerspaces in Germany will have the necessary equipment, but I don't know the specifics.
The difference between spending ten hours hand-soldering boards and spending ten hours learning how to P&P then reflow boards is the latter is actually useful experience for someone.
Please put me down for one also, I don't have a particularly fantastic soldering iron, so I think having all the SMD components on already would be perfect.

Yep. Write one
Leading from the front. Genesis devs, ASSEMBLE*!
That's what this thing is for, right? Oh God please tell me you're all planning to use UMDK for development... I want a new wave of MD games starting right here!
