Hi you all.
Did I dream,
or did I see somewhere that there was a way to input data from the controller port #2 into the Genesis RAM ?

Sure. There was that communication device, but it is very slow.

The game Zero Tolerance supports multiplayer that way.

I'm using a LPT to 2nd controller port link in my stuff... when all 68K power is put into managing transfers, you get around 32KBytes/Seco bandwidth.

My brother and I made a link to the Atari 400/800/XL home computer the same way. It got about that speed as well. It's how I transferred most of my Atari stuff to the Amiga years back.

You can use any of the three ports as either serial (up to 4800 baud, with a TTL interface) or parallel. I've used the rear port along with a version of Macsbug that I hacked up from the oldest Macintosh version I could find.
Zero Tolerance uses a parallel mode.
You can also do wierd stuff, like the Miracle Piano does. It uses the second controller port like a NES/SNES port, and sends and receives MIDI commands through it.
