What does Gens 32X VDP debug tell you?
I have gotten a basic set of images drawing on 32X in emulators, there is a background image and a set of frames of animation for a foreground "sprite". I think I've figured out how to set the CRAM palette correctly.
I noticed the Debug features in Gens let you see the VDP data. Maybe there is something I am not getting, why does it look like the images are repeated in Raw data? What does this actually tell you?
I am using Gens KMod 0.7c
When I use the latest version of Gens/GS the only VDP debug is it seems to show are the color palettes at the bottom of the game screen.

32X has 2x framebufffers. While you update one, you show the other.
EDIT: not the case there...

Hmm, I've actually set VDP Mode to 8bpp too. When I look at a few other demo roms, I see the same thing, along with distorted colors, so I'll assume that I'm not doing something wrong.Stef wrote:I would say the debugger display the VRAM data as 8 bpp bitmap with the colormap colors but in your case i guess the VRAM contains 15/16 bpp bitmap, it's why you see that sort of image duplication.

And now that they reached the point of sensible replies, they'll be able to reply to each other as well. Soon they will become self-aware and take over.Chilly Willy wrote:It's just spam - the current spam bots actually try to derive something that SOUNDS like it might fit the thread to keep from getting deleted.
