SEGA PART #171-5519
32k & 1 Megabit PCBs
These are undated PCB's for the Sega Master System. Games from 32k to 1 Megabit use these PCB's. Most of these are early titles. Each ROM has 28 PINs. The serial number can be located on the back of the PCB on the left-hand side.
Games like Choplifter have also been found using the 171-5364 PCB, yet the ROM MPR numbers remain the same. There may not be any advantage/disadvantage when comparing one PCB to the next. It simply may be a choice of what was available at the time.
Transbot is unique because it was originally released on the Sega Card here in America. The card has a maximum capacity of 32KBytes. This version of Transbot I obtained is for the UK market. It is a PAL release on cartridge. It is still 32KBytes. The Master System itself can only access 64KBytes of ROM. Every game over 32KBytes has a special memory controller built into it to get past this limitation. Since this ROM is exactly 32Kbytes, it does not have a memory controller built into it. Transbot was probably re-released in this form when the Master System was redesigned into the Master System 2 which eliminated the card slot, which is why the MPR is much later in the sequence.
