I ve just read that classic genesis games will be availables in playstation store like the xbox and wii. I suppose that these games will be using the same emulator developped by sega but i would be curious to know if someone has already tried these games and can judge the level of this emulator compared to emulator like kega, genesis plus, gens or retrocopy ...

I just know that VC emulator is not the same as the one used on PSP/PS2/PS3/X360.

VC emulator is developped by M2which is also responsible for the Sega Ages collection. Sound emulation is not so inaccurate as for example, the GEMS "bug" that many emulators were suffering is correctly handled (I bought Comix Zone on VC to test it). The emulator also got updated with later VC releases.

"Classic" (PSP,PS2) or "Ultimate" (PS3,X360) collections were developped by Digital Eclipse Software, now part of BackBone Entertainment. I think their emulator at least use the same "Kgen-based" YM2612 core that was used by Sega for Smash Packs & co as Steve Snake is mentionned in the credits.

The one in the Sonic compilations was supposedly Gens based. Though, that was already 7 years ago, or so.
