All you need is a flashcart, MoD's cable and the files in the RAR and you can dump BIOSes. I've dumped my MCD2 BIOS and friend's X'eye BIOS. Once I assemble his Wondermega, I'll dump its BIOS aswell.

Which range are you dumping the BIOS from out of curiosity? I found when I was dumping my BIOS files, if I dumped from the base range where the BIOS was mapped, something was masking some of the interrupt vectors from the vector table at the start of the ROM. I could only get a "clean" dump of the bios when I dumped from a higher mirrored address. There are some BIOS files marked as bad dumps in the goodgen set that have these vectors masked IIRC. Something to check if you haven't noticed. Do a dump of the entire 4MB range and compare some of the mirrors with the first copy. In my case, I was dumping from the MegaCD via a modified version of MoD's rom dumping tool though, so you might not have this problem when the MegaCD is inactive.

I used the $400000...$41FFFF range, all dumps have been bit perfect, and there hasd been no trouble running them in emulators.

Nice. Sounds easier than dumping bios files from a CD then. I always had to do a full 4MB dump from 0x0 and compare the mirrored copies to figure out which one was good.

I should probably post some of the unreleased dumps I've got. A few of my bioses like the one for my Multi-Mega are undumped versions, and I've got some misc stuff like Sega Channel and X-band modem roms. I think once I realised I needed to re-dump half my bios roms I never got back to it.

If the MCD would be active, I guess dumping from MD side will have some of the vectors shadowed aswell, though I'm not too sure... I've not yet tried to do anything with the MCD part.

The multi-mega bios is dumped (v2.21 if I recall correctly), and I have it somewhere, it's not hoarded.
The Sega Channel and X-Band stuff looks interesting.

I'm pretty sure V2.21 of the Sega CD-X bios is dumped, which is the US version of the Multi-Mega, but I think the Multi-Mega bios itself hasn't been dumped, or at least, I haven't come across it, and it doesn't seem to be listed in goodgen. There are of course alternate versions too though. My MegaCD II bios was an undumped version IIRC, which I found a little surprising, and I haven't even looked at the versions for things like my Pioneer LaserActives.

What is the version of your MegaCD II Bios ?
Only the v1.02 of the Pionner LaserActiv bios is dumped. I know there is a v1.04

Yep, that Multi-Mega bios is the same as mine. My MegaCD II bios version is 2.00W (as opposed to 2.00E), which also now seems to be floating around out there in the wild. Only the US version of 2.00W was available when I looked before, or I didn't look hard enough.

I should check my LaserActive bioses. I've got the US PAC-S10 and the Japanese PAC-S1, but I haven't taken notice of the bios versions.

I don't remember whether that's the one from my own Laseractive or not, but my Laseractive has a socketed EPROM for its BIOS, so I dumped it long ago.

Sweet but one problem :

Code: Select all

You don't have permission to access /files/laseractive-bios-1.04.zip on this server.

Fixed. For whatever reason the directory I found it in had 700 permissions on everything, and that got copied over.
