What do you think about Neo Geo X. I'm really surprised that this topic didn't exist on the forums.
It's a retro console, with old classics from Neo Geo.
Replica of Neo Geo AES, but much cheaper (console, games etc).

It is emulation based device like these ATgames things for MD, all with same kind of problems.

Yes, it's emulation platform, use popular Neo Geo emulator and OS is based on Linux. But I think, in contrast to ATGames MD and BLAZE MD(BLAZE is involved in NGX, and its very controversial company) it is pretty good product. Let's see...:
- We've got 20 built-in games, that for AES/MVS are much more expensive.
- Console is portable, but we also have a replica of AES, which is an docking station.
- We've got also a replica of AES joystick.
- Much cheaper games.
- Much cheaper console.
- Original SNK games. (it's licensed by SNK, and all these games, are no longer abandonware, which means that we must buy products like Neo Geo X, because when we play it on other emulators, we are pirates)
- Official support from SNK
- Apparently - very good emulation and quality of console.
- It's Neo Geo, just say it's Neo Geo, and it will be awesome.

Game Sack reviewed the machine, sound is problematic and there's other problems too in visuals. It is not very good emulation, just good enough to be playable but not playable like real deal is.

They fixed emulation, but original at this point (video and sounds) is still better. (but I saw comparision of video quality, and only colors are much different, on NGX they're darker, and looks like there were 2 times less colors)

BTW Neo Geo X has been hacked just few days after release.

Isn't this thing using a copy of Final Burn Alpha without authorization (original license preventing commercial use) ? At least, it seems that this is what have been exposed when it was first hacked.

It seems rather expensive actually for a linux based handled running a free emulator. I guess some people will find it cheap and attractive just because it has the shiny Neo Geo brand on it but I can't stop thinking it is some kind of shameless ripoff

NGX software is hmmm... not so much good as it might be as for SNK console (don't forget it's also SNK console)... Oh right, it's cheap.
Console might not feels "cheap" as many people say (most opinions say that it's really good at this point) I like also design of NGX, from the hardware side it may be a nice product.

But you also forget, that you buy original SNK product. There are original games, no piracy, and it's also very important.

I was thinking about buying it, but for now, I have other priorities.

PS. I didn't found anywhere NGX built-in MicroSD content, but I must find it. Had anyone this?
