just curious, does it works on real hardware ?
because it sets VDP reg $0 bit 0 which supposely shutdown VDP display output

Setting bit 0 actually turns off all display generation, as opposed to the
screen blanking feature which simply shows the backdrop color.
would be interesting to know if this is true on all models

On the SMS VDP, this bit apparently disables Video SYNC (CSYNC ?), seems to be still the case on the Genesis VDP. There are other bits in VDP register 0C controlling HSYNC & VSYNC as well.
