Megacd Backup ram data

Post by Fonzie » Mon Dec 11, 2006 10:20 pm

Hi,

I wanted (some times ago, mainly for my megacart bios) to read myself the content of a .brm file... You know, getting the saves names and size off raw data.

 What i've already noted is:

-End of backup ram is always written
SEGA_CD_ROM?????
RAM_CARTRIDGE___

However, i also saw :
SEGA_EC_ROM?????
or/and:
RAM_CARTRIDGE_?_

Maybe a bug in segacd bios?

I also noticed that there are 32 bytes of something just before the 32last bytes (number of entries? + some informations?)... It always fallow same pattern but several bytes always change...

Then (from end to start, just before the last 64bytes) comes 64bytes per saves entries...

Effective saves data start from 0x0 to end...

----------------------------------------------
 But one thing really interested me:
I never saw any strings or "understoodable" patterns... all seems compressed, even the directory table...

Does someone made some research over this? Any inputs?

Thank you dudes.

Fonz
