Replace the audio of one SGA file with another

Post by LG30 » Wed Dec 13, 2023 10:59 am

hello everyone, I would like to know if it is possible to extract the audio from an SGA file to replace it with another. Let me explain, I'm French and the Night Trap game is really more beautiful in its 32X version, only it was only released in English. Now when I look at each file in the MEGACD and 32X version, they weigh the same. I know for now that it is not possible to re-encode SGA files, but in your opinion, can you just extract the audio, erase the audio from the other file and replace it with the new one without touching to video, therefore without re-encoding whether audio or video. Thank you for your answers.

There's some documentation of the format here. It sounds like the audio is uncompressed in the native PCM format of the Ricoh chip (sign-magnitude) so replacing it should be pretty straightforward. I don't think there are any off the shelf tools to do so though
