YMX2SYX - Port Genesis YM2612 voices to Yamaha DX/TX synthesizers!

Here's a quick history leading up to the release of this new tool:

2003: I release Sonic QX, the first music editor for a Sonic game. This tool established the YMX bank format for storing voices. It was also capable of importing voices from Yamaha DX/TX synthesizers.

2011: I hand-ported Green Hill Zone voices over to my TX81Z. I posted a video online showing the results. Ignoring the flaws in the MIDI sequence, the voices themselves were pretty accurate.

2017: I have just released YMX2SYX. This is a tool that converts YMX banks to SysEx banks compatible with many Yamaha DX/TX synthesizers. I also did a video of Spring Yard Zone playing on my TX81Z with the results of my new utility.

I am not expecting very use out of this. This is more of a labor of love for me. I know that I'm more enthusiastic about it that most people will be, and that's okay. I just think it's fascinating that a synthesizer that my dad owned all those years before lending it over to me to use for my musical endeavors ended up being a close cousin of the sound chip used in my favorite gaming console! So being able to play Genesis sounds on there is really, really cool in my opinion. I am also aware that there are at least a few individuals out in these parts that own one of the compatible synthesizers. If anyone does happen to get use out of this tool, I'd love to hear about it!

You will need Windows and Java to run it.

Compatible Yamaha synthesizers include the DX11, DX21, DX27, DX27S, DX100, and TX81Z.
