Megadrive Overscan/Native Resolutions?

Post by xenepp » Wed Apr 22, 2009 4:53 pm

Hi all,

I hope you will forgive my ignorance but here goes.

I have my PC hooked up to my TV via RGB SCART and I'm trying to run Kega in a resolution that closely resembles the real thing using soft15khz but that's easier said than done (for a pleb like me).

I know the tech documents state the Megadrive runs in various resolutions but they all seem to conflict and none of them allow for the overscan which a real Megadrive outputs.

So I guess my question is, what resolutions would I need to add to soft15khz and Kega's ini to accurately reproduce the video on a real TV, keeping in mind that the VGA signal is already clipped by the TV's masking (which I assume is the reason the real thing outputs the overscan) and I'll be running PAL and NTSC games in 50 and 60hz.

If anyone can save my head from exploding that'd be awesome :)
