Admittedly, Sega Genesis development is a little obscure. It depends entirely on what you're comparing it to. Arguably, the MegaDrive scene has more going for it than SNES and NES combined. Sure, in sheer numbers, NES probably wins, but as far as quality is concerned, MegaDrive rocks the scene. Har...

Re: Titus the Fox

This one certainly takes me back. Fun fact: If you play Titus today, it will display the same message as the one seen in Prehistorik, which is something like "Woohoo, you're still playing *game title here* in 20XX. It was coded in 19XX on computer such and such". In the case of Titus the Fox, it act...

Well, it seems that only happens with Google Chrome, I tested with Internet Explorer and I can choose 240p and 144p. :? It's because Chrome forces the HTML5 player, while other browsers may use the Flash player instead. For me, Flash player is default under Firefox, but not under IE 11. Anyway, if ...

Demo Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnTtvOKsoQs A suggestion, if I may. Get rid of the constant pinging. That sound is way too sharp, and would annoy many gamers. If it's supposed to represent the sound made by the hovering drones, searching for intruders, I would suggest something lower-pi...

Miniplanets

Recently, over at TIG forums, Sik posted a couple of videos showing his MegaDrive project called Miniplanets. It's a really cute idea, so I hope he finishes it.

Nice. One suggestion, though. Change "PAPI GAIN" (armor-piercing ammo) to "PAPI GAINED". Same goes for "GAIN X BULLETS". It should read "GAINED".

Re: Please help to decide!

Is it OK for you to see them in a game or it's too annoying and you will not be able to play such game having such artifacts? This largely depends on what the gameplay is going to look like, but if you want my opinion, the columns would be annoying. They would make the game look broken. It's not th...

MtChocolate - Bakuon Kai 8 Demo

I came across this a while ago, but I was counting on an actual ROM release. It didn't happen [yet], but it still might be interesting to some. MtChocolate wrote this little demo / music disk thing for the eight edition of Bakuon Kai, which is a chiptune party held in Tokyo. https://dl.dropboxuserco...

Not bad at all! As for Starr Mazer itself, this game is what I imagined titles beyond the 16-bit hardware would look like. Fluent, detailed 2D animations, with plenty of objects.

I miss the SNK quality and attention to detail when it comes to 2D.

Is it yet possible to find this ROM somewhere? The final game has been released for Sega / Mega CD under the title Mighty Mighty Missile and can be bought here . There is no freeware ROM for it, aside from the demos. Links in the original post are dead, but search for it by the final title and I'm ...

Wow! That's pretty amazing! Even with the quality of the video, you can clearly hear a major, MAJOR improvement in sample quality. Are you planning on releasing a patch once it's all done? I'd love to see one.

Where does it say the coder is a woman? I checked out MtChocolate's Mixi [a Japanese Facebook of sorts] profile and it says it's a 31 year old dude.

I played the Pringles game recently, and damn, is it addictive or what? You just have to play until you get an "A" on all stages. Too bad it's so short and there's no music. This could have easily been a genuine game back in MD's heyday. After all, we've had Cool Spot and the McDonald's game [which ...

In HardWareMan's video, the effect is BARELY visible. I probably wouldn't notice it at all if I wasn't looking for it, specifically. Weird. By the way, what hardware was used to test the game in that video [console / flash device]? I like the Norton Commander-esque menu.

It also happens in a lot of commercial games, albeit only on overscan. The very reason I reported this was because it was visible during gameplay. Plus, in NTSC mode it appears on the gameplay area, not off screen. Also, like I said before, this effect wasn't as visible in the Kolobok hack, which I...
