The TIFFs are in a multi-page-in-one-file format. Don't know the proper technical term for that, but most image editors can open up any page of those. However they have 1bit color while the PDFs are greyscale, so in theory the PDFs should have better quality.

Omp just dropped the 8-bit docs. He's still going for all the 16-bit docs, including the 32X. I think he's also collecting for the Saturn docs, but not sure on that. Yes, and so far it has the most money collected. Though I did mention that he can use my donation for both (once the saturn one is bo...

As luck would have it, this chip is one that was photographed by a guy selling photocopies of sega service manuals on ebay.

So, we have an official pinout for this chip.

Pins 69-71 are labeled as test pins on this...

Scanning for so far is one thing, varying the focus on-the-fly is something different.... well, we'll see how it goes I guess.

Do you have any more pics of that interface? It says SEGA 1988 171-5734, right? I want to build a database of these things.

Hehe, I'll keep "reminging" you. A scanner might not be the best choice though, as it gets out of focus on anything but whatever is the closest to the glass. I think it depends on scanner though. I need to stop being lazy and start working on my own stuff, so I can set better examples on the kind of...

Nope, I did not build a thing :P I paid ~80usd for all the stuff and I still have not made anything too useful with them. The 256KB of RAM on the carts is cool though :) http://www.tmeeco.eu/Fileden/GEMSstuff.jpg http://www.tmeeco.eu/Fileden/GEMSworks.jpg http://www.tmeeco.eu/BitShit/GEMS28.rar htt...

I already have one. They go up on ebay all the time. Sadly it doesn't have any unusual parts, but then the serial number of it is in the high 50 thousand or so.

the pictured mega drive is a prototype, before the Sega-branded chips went into mass production. The VDP there is still labelled by its yamaha part number, YM7101. So I'm afraid not.... :( Not necessarily: Sega re-used prototype chips whenever they were working, in retail units. Many early Mega CDs...

Quick note, due to the amount of spam and such, there's no way to register your own account, so if any of y'all need one, PM me and I'll figure something out. So yeah, hopefully we can all compile a bunch of info on the MD, MCD and 32X, so we can have a correct and accurate reference that's not bal...

Odd how the game doesn't actually end. I wonder how the heck they intended that to work. I got dddddd on Kega Fusion, using... 7 year old savestates (but I found a few 11 year old ones on my hdd as well, which oddly enough still work). Obviously that's not the most accurate. But I was wondering abou...

Really? I've never heard of that. I'm interested in doing tests on that to figure out what could cause it. Where does it lock up, partway through the level? Do you know if the lockup was occurring on a US or European system? Was there a particular ROM you were using? I can't run the game right now ...

That reminds me - is it possible to finish Road Rash 2? The last few levels glitch and lock up on all emulators, and it's been ages since I could test it on the cart.
