I like GENESology too even though I was not used to the US name. It always has been Megadrive for me but GENESology just sounds right and cool.

Would be very interesting to know how many cycles are needed for each type of register changes. I guess there'd be no other option than polling the state of the BUSY flag while counting cycles, right ?

Yeah MoD, I get the same on my dedicated servers, and also my mobile (through cellular network) but not from my home PC but I saw some really huge TTLs on the DNS zone. I think that's why.

Thanks for your feedback !

Hi Nemesis, Lithium Hosting seems to do the job for you. If you change your mind or if you need something more (unlimited subdomains, extended services, etc...), I'd be glad to help (I mean for free of course). Would be my pleasure to host anything about your work. BTW, here's what we currently on s...

Website down ?

Hi Nemesis, Did I miss some info about your website ? It currently points to a kind of parking page. Are you in the middle of moving to another web hosting service ? I have a few dedicated servers that could handle the load if you need some space and bandwidth. Looking forward to see your website ag...

Don't forget to use load resistors on MOL and MOR ! These are designed to source current, not to sink current. I fried a YM2612 at first, ignoring this. The chip was very (too) hot. I almost burned myself while touching it. After that, the chip continued to work, but the sound was all distorted.

Hi ! I don't know if digitalWrite is a hundred times slower than port manipulation but I clearly remember looking into Arduino source code to figure it out and I was just shocked ;) Although I perfectly understand the philosophy of Arduino and I'm not blaming. It's just that it's... slow :) Of cours...

Does it operate in 5V or 3.3V ? Where did you got any schematics or pin assignments ? Any doc or so ?

Thanks man !

 Wait... Shall I understand that, except for the $2C register, the YMF276 is register-map and feature-set compatible with the YM2612 ??? I couldn't find any datasheet for the YMF276, but it sounds really good !!!

I noticed the VGM files are sometimes not very accurate at their beginning, where they need to fully place th YM chip in it's initial state before the song actually starts, they often throw the entire registers configuration in almost one single frame which is fine for emulators but not for a real c...

Hi ! Congrats on your project. There's a lot of very interesting things to learn in these situations ! If I may suggest something about your Arduino code, you should always try to avoid digitalWrite at all times because it is a very slooooow instruction. Especially when you'd theoretically need seve...

Same thing happened to me first time I used an YM2612. Actually, the chip didn't fried but it sounded awful after that. Maybe yours isn't totally dead ? To check mine, I unsoldered the YM2612 from a real Genesis and I put a DIP socket instead to switch between chips more easily. It was almost fun to...

Well, it turned out I solved it by myself but I'd like to share this with you guys since I think it's revealing something I just couldn't find ANY documenation about. As you probably know, most noise sounds are produced by configuring the noise channel to use tone channel 3 output as a shift rate an...
