Somehow my topic notification for this got deactivated, so I missed that this started! Really glad to see LA games approaching dumping at last. Sent a PM to Nemesis; for posterity, offering the following: J.B. Harold - Manhattan Requiem (Japan) [NEC] Pyramid Patrol (US) [SEGA] Quiz Econosaurus (Japa...

Semi-offtopic, but you guys might be interested: Manhattan Requiem got an iOS port not long ago and is on sale for 99 cents right now. It doesn't have voice acting, but the text translation is 100% identical to the Laseractive version, which was the only way to play the game in English until now. It...

In that case, it may be worth investigating and trying to locate a point before the composite signal is separated to pull it from. It all depends on the quality of the end result, as most capture devices won't apply a comb filter to S-Video input, so if there's not a comb filter already in the LA c...

RGB won't really help in terms of video capture, since the disc stores composite video and the only relatively cheap RGB capture card I know of is the SweetSpot (link currently down, unfortunately), but with the RGB mod essentially just decoding the composite signal, best to just capture the compos...

EDIT: Did some looking over the schematic.... looks like we might want to look at the LD video inputs at the BA7230LS chip on the RGBB board. That chip looks to be the final encoder that combines the LD video with the RGB overlay from the PAC. Schematic: http://www.cyberroach.com/new_laseractive_pi...

1. Capture hardware. Cheap capture cards just aren't going to cut it. If you have a better player, but a worse capture card, chances are the result is going to be worse. You need a card that gives stable sync with the video, and can capture without compression/deinterlacing. I've got a decent Black...

I think it'd be a good idea, since this looks like it might be quite a large undertaking. If you open the floodgates now it'll encourage new users to sign-up and offer their services. EDIT: Might be worth making it clear, we need dumpers for NEC games as well as just the SEGA Mega-LD format games. ...

Can't believe I missed the last few messages - for some reason it unsubscribed me to replies! Anyway, really glad to read about your progress! re: games, I've got a decent-size collection I'm glad to either loan, or dump on my own hardware as appropriate. I think I posted my game collection earlier,...

Yeah, I noticed the pausing when I was trying to record video from it on another player. I did need to step-frame in order to access the rest of the data. Incidentally, regarding the data - from the ugly static I get when I accidentally set the player to "play" the data track, I can tell that most g...

Very good news! Out of curiosity, how did the technique on the last Space Berzerker dump work? Is that different from what you're doing now? I'm not familiar with how the filesystems are stored - I wonder if dumping over MegaLD is feasible for LD-ROM2 games, or if that'll require a separate dumping ...

Thanks Misty, it's good to see there's some interest out there about this. I'm taking a short break from this for now to work on other things, but I'll be coming back around to it in the coming months, so watch this space. I'll definitely keep an eye out. I've got the thread watched so I'll get an ...

Stumbled across this on Google. Fantastic to see this is being worked on! I actually just bought a good quality LD player and capture card with the intention of ripping the analogue video and audio from my games. I'd be super interested in helping you out, Nemesis. As far as dumping video from your ...
