Yeah i saw the game was pretty unstable, got a lot of blue screen in emulator too ! Definitely not a good choice to test large rom :-/ unfortunately, that is the only one i know...

The UMK3 hack is 10MB. Make sure you're using the latest as they work bugs out all the time.

I's the page i downloaded it from, as you can see the main rom (without patch) is only 6.5 MB. I remember of a larger rom too but i can't find it anymore.

Uh... that's a zip file. Decompress it for the 10MB rom... then apply the patch for the latest version.

I was like that last week - I was sick and spent most of my time in bed, but what time I was up, I was mostly incoherent.

Stef,

congratulations on the final result, it's really impressive how you developed the original idea by the FutureDriver.

Comparing to the later, we can clearly see an improvement on the use of the videogame resources, the use of full screen, anti-aliased graphics and clear PCM music, which shows to us how powerful the processor is and how much we could explore.

The use of source code in the SGDK is also very good to allow research for more people to be able to understand and develop video game programming.

Well done!

Thanks for your kind comment about the demo and SGDK :)

I did the demo for several reasons, first i was really amazed by the video, very smooth and well done animations synchronized on a nice tune :p
Then i discovered the different ports from FutureDriver. I was very impressed by the result and also liked how he used some tricks as the FM3 CSM mode for voices... but technically i was sure we could have something closer to the original video on a Sega Genesis as it has blast processing :D so i tried :)

The most important features i wanted to preserve were full resolution (320x224) and 30 FPS playback. Using 2bpp saved bandwidth... ultimately i could have used 1bpp but result would have look really worst (no gray shades).

Sources are not that useful because the big part is the codec and i developed it with a custom tool i made in java. Honestly the codec required the major piece of time of development... still i hope it could give some ideas :) that also prove we can do nice stuff with SGDK ;)

[hi stef, first thanks for maybe the most beautiful demo on genesis ^^
do you have see the glitch from piroxilim?
i have the same on my japanese megadrive 1(Haa-2510) with mega-everdrive(osv7beta)]

I try it on :
genesis1 (1601) - full version run without any glitches.
md1 (HAA-2510) (jap) - full version run without any glitches.
jvc x`eye (rg-m10bu) - full ver. dont run, p1 & p2 run without any glitches.
genesis 3 (mk-1461) - full ver. dont run, p1 & p2 run without any glitches.

Sound glitches may be in dry capactors on sound circuit.

The X'Eye is obvious why the full version doesn't run - it has the CD built in. The Model 3 Genny probably needs the DTACK mod before the full version will work.

Thanks for the nice comment on the demo, not sure it the most beautiful one but still i'm glad you like it :)
Apparently Piroxilim got the glitch only on X'eye system which is expected because of the segaCD device, about the genesis 3, i guess some internal signals are missing to get the 10 MB direct mapped rom area to work correctly.
By the way, the glitch you're speaking about is the scratchy sound right ?
