Regen 0.972 and 0.972D

Post by AamirM » Sun Oct 25, 2009 12:11 pm

Regen 0.972 and 0.972D released
New releases are up after a very major bug related to EEPROM was discovered. This bug could cause some games to work incorrectly (Micro Machines) and some to totally fail (NBA Jam Tournament Edition).
As always, download from here.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused. I am now thinking of adding an auto-updating feature due to all this quick releases.

I hope this release is stable and good enough <_<.

Just one fixed game ;-)

I read messages in Emu-Russia, and now write info:

Russian users say: what Regen can't work with Sram saves, and they use Kega Fusion instead Regen.

But and good words about Regen have too! they say what Regen don't use hacks, like a Kega Fusion, and some games work more accurate than in Kega ;-)

Now most known problem: minor bugs and Sram issues

When they will be fixed, Regen will be perfect for Mega Drive and Game Gear games.

I really hope, what these last bugs in this release will be fixed soon :D

Eidolon's Inn is down right now because it looks like somebody DDoSed the website and sapped all the bandwidth. The page you're seeing is from the host it's hosted on.

Ummm? Which one(s)? I highly doubt this by the way, if anything they're probably the same.

That'd be my guess, yes. Because the last day it was working me and him noticed the Inn going down and not responding to pings so we figured it was probably a DDoS attack.

You can tell me and I'll pass it along to him. :P

I'll be testing for more crashes in Regen a little later.

Shadow and King,

It'll be nice if you made a list of games that you are testing along with how much did you played it (what level? how much finished) etc... So we can know what games are working fine and doesn't have glitches.

I'm currently testing/playing Sonic & Knuckles (W) [!].

I'm also going to be making some updates to the cheats pack within the next few days.

EDIT: Think I found a bug. When enabling and disabling Turbo Mode, the area were messages goes blacks out for a moment while the message is on the screen.

Cool, you can post them here on the forums or anywhere you like. I'll upload them on my website as well. We should have a cheat pack for all the games. ;)

Strange. Try choosing a different font color. Also, post the TextColor_R,G,B values from the ini.

Good. Just make a new topic (with name like "Game Testing" or something) and post all the completed games there.

I'm using the Fixedsys font, size 9 regular - color white.

TextColor_R=255
TextColor_G=255
TextColor_B=255

And here's the FontData string...

FontData=F4FFFFFF0000000000000000000000009001000000000000010201314600690078006500640073007900730000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000006

Yeah, I'd like to do a cheat pack for Regen and Kega at some point. It'd have to be two of them though, one to support the GoodGen names and one to support the No-Intro names.

EDIT: Possibly found something. We can overclock the 68000 and use the Spectrum Analyzer when there's no game loaded. Also, the cheat search can be opened when there's no game loaded.

Don't know if its a bug or its my machine, but games, that run smooth @60fps like sonic, sometimes start to stutter for some seconds, even though the fps stay at 60fps.
im using the ss2 build on my athlon64 3500+ on win 7 x64 home premium.

edit: just happens in windowed mode. in fullscreen the scrolling stays smooth constantly.

yeah this stuttering really is a pain in the a** because it ruins the smooth scrolling. :wink:

kega fusion runs everything smooth all the time in window mode
(with vsync off/on - i remember steve snake wrote someting about vsync doesnt have any effect on win vista/7 in windowed mode anymore)
