Can someone please translate "HI! Я ОСТАНУСЬ НЕИЗВЕСТНЫМ" in english (or at least get his name from that). This guy has helped me and I want to include his name in changelog. Online translator are not translating correctly I think.
I'm not Russian but I believe it's "I shall remain unknown" (ya ostanus neizvestnym) with 'unknown' likely meaning 'anonymous'.
I confirm this.
Agree.

Great! Very Happy Well, since you're making a GNU/Linux port, I guess you have that installed. What distro are you using? If you're using Ubuntu, there are simple instructions for building Haiku through Ubuntu here:
I am using Fedora Core 7. It seems it has all the things I need. Now lets hope thay my video and sound card (both onboard on intel915) are supported.
It should be pretty much the same in Fedora, apart from the obvious things (su instead of sudo, etc), I think. But if not, I think there was also a guide for Fedora somewhere.

I hope the onboard sound and video works too. I had out-of-the-box support for my sound atleast. But no 3d for my video card (Nvidia Geforce 7600) unfortunately.

Good luck!

Hi,

I've uploaded a new beta 4 of Regen which contains somewhat major sound emulation updates. I've added an option to boost PSG volume to whatever the user like since I remeber something else, someone else says something else and recordings sound something else. As such, I've been unable to find a way that fits for everyone.

Apart from that, hopefully all the reported sound problems might have been fixed in this release. So don't forget to test them out.

SSG-EG part of my YM2612 core has undergone a major overhaul. So it should be pretty much very close to the real thing now. If you want to check out yourself, here is a recording from the real thing and here is the test ROM to run in Regen and compare results. All credits for these both go out to Nemesis.

And I almost forgot, you can download the beta from here.

And my thanks goes out to a Russian guy for reporting many sound problems but wants to remain anonymous.

stay safe,

AamirM

There are still some glitches in SSG-EG relating to the release phase. Check the release on the last few SSG-EG patterns and compare them to the reference recording. If you fix those, it looks like SSG-EG will be pretty solid.

Ok...

The only issue I've found so far is in Robocop Vs. The Terminator, is that the sound of using the flame thrower weapon is still kinda off compared to Kega and what I remember from the real hardware (didn't seem as high pitched). Can somebody look into this and see what that sound's doing exactly? It's not even listed in the game's sound test. :P

Also, I've been told by several people that hitting the bumpers in Sonic 2's Casino Night Zone causes the sound to sound really loud, thus popping (like what was happening in Sonic 1 and Sonic 3K, have yet to test this one).

EDIT: Tested Sonic 2, don't hear any issues. :)

Just fixed those as well now. And it fixes music in Barcelona Olympics. I probably overlooked this (I didn't pay attention to release phase at all). The problem was, happens only in SSG envelope 12 and 14 (starting from 7), the output would get inverted in release phase. This was an error on my side :( .

This time it sounds just like Kega to me. :P

I've found a strange new bug in this newest version and Flashback. The US GOLD intro music suddenly stops before it does the final notes.

That's a region setting issue. It happens if you try and play the european Flashback rom on a US region machine. The european version of Flashback is tagged as a world-wide build with a JUE region code, even though it's actually a european-only build. The Japanese build has the same problem. The US version is correctly tagged with the U region code only.

It looks like the "Auto-Detect" mode of Regen was changed between the releases, and it now defaults to a US machine rather than a European machine where there are multiple region codes provided, which in the case of Flashback means it boots up in US mode for the european rom. If you manually set the region of the machine to Europe, you'll find the intro plays correctly.

I don't how this can be solved really. There could well be cases where the reverse is true, and a US-only build is tagged as JUE, meaning defaulting to European mode would break those games.
