Porting DOTT (no more) and Fuzzy's minigolf to MD/Genesis

Post by Mills » Fri Apr 18, 2014 2:45 pm

Ok, DOTT would be impossible for one person, anyway i made a little demo and it looks good!

Fuzzy's minigolf is an old msdos game, looking good also, i'll continue porting it, as it is easy enough.

Downloads:

DOTT: press A,B or C to see and listen stuff.
FUZZY: just wait for menu screen, press A to "blast from the past" hole, in the hole, just press a to see the rocket launch or move cursor.

Those tech demos look nice!

BTW: If you really would like to port DOTT to the Sega Genesis, one way to go would be by porting ScummVM.

funny, I always thought I'll see a ScummVM ported to MCD one day ...
not to the md itself !

As Mills pointed out himself, unless a dedicated group was behind the project you'll probably never actually see it ported to the MD. Perhaps if the Sega CD version of Monkey Island was disassembled or something?

Can't really make an oppinion on these so very limited demos, other than they'd make for nice screen mockups... I think that, at least in the beginning, the effort should be more focused on mimicking the games' gameplay aspects rather than the more cosmetic stuff, though.

Good palette colors, finally told GIMP to do the right thing.

Looking good! Reminds me a bit of Zany Golf on the Amiga. That was a fun game.

I didn't know about zany golf. It looks like Fuzzy is very similar, maybe they copied it a bit. they took zany golf, and improved animations and colors...

I'm having trouble with fuzzy, it has huge animations, it looks like MD/gen is a bit slow updating big sprites.
