I was wondering, would it be possible to make a media player for the 32X?

I propose a cartridge based system, and use the sega cd as the media to hold the, well, media ;)

perhaps simple MP3 support, and VCD for one..

i think the 32X could be up to this, in a way.. obviously it won't be hardware decoding, but software decoding, and may be choppy, but something could be done, right?

fonzie? :P you sound like the person for something like this

Software MP3 decoding requires much raw CPU power. Depending of code, quality and platform, it can vary in very big range - I saw numbers from 7.5 to 50+ MIPS. I doubt that SH2 (estimated 20MIPS) has enough power to port some free MP3 codec on it.
