Gameboy Color extra colours trick possible?

On Gameboy Color there was a HW trick that enabled many more colours to be displayed on the screen than was normally allowed. Think it was due to changing colours on the palette so quickly that the eye perceived many more colours than usual. On the 32x it can do 32000 colours or so? What if you used the slave to do that same palette trick. Would it then be possible to get many more colours? From memory, I think the GBC game was called Alone in the Dark, not sure though.

The trick oen gamebay relies on the slowness of the LCD screen. You can do it on any game console but ones that use a TV or such can have quite noticable flickering.

On another side the 32000+ color in the 32x are direct color encoded as R5G5B5 so you can't get higher in anyway way...
If you use the direct color mode, you just have plain 15 bits RGB color buffer as it is... If you use the 8 bits paletted mode, then you can switch some palette entries on each scanline (as we do on MD) but there is not many interest in that hen you have the direct 15bits mode available.
