Best way for testing a YM2612 emulator?

For anything related to sound (YM2612, PSG, Z80, PCM...)

And if it can be useful the back (with a strange switch that I don't know what it is):

Is the version with the YM2612?

Wow!, the European Mega Drive "High Definition Graphics - Stereo Sound" version!. A rare one!. It has the YM2612 inside!, indeed!.

You have a modded one. That is the country switch if I'm not wrong. Or maybe the RF Modulator?, I cannot see the modulator selector (CH3/CH4) on the side of the RF Out, strange...

EU ones don't have that switch on them, its an USA only thing.
I wouldn't really say those "HDG-SS" variations are rare in EU, they seem easier to find than non HDG models.
MD2 is still most widely available, and if you care to mod one it will be the best functionality-wise, looks wise it all comes down to what do you like yourself. EU MD2 or JP MD1 for me :D

True, I'm from Italy and now that I know what to look for, it seems that most MD1 on eBay have the HDG-SS signature. But I got the switch too... maybe the console I got was an import?

You are referring to the sound mod you created right? I downloaded some samples of the mod output and indeed it produces a beautiful, lively sound! From hearing the samples I would place it even ahead of the MD1 (although they are difficult to compare because the sound is so different) but the unmodded MD2 didn't sound too good.

I'm not sure what's the technical difference between JP and non-JP MD1, right now the JP version is at least 5-6 times more expensive... that's a bit too much for me! ;-)

I don't recall ever seeing that switch on my EU models, but perhaps some may have it ? If the one you got had same EU style logos etc. then there are some models with the channel switch.

And yes I was referring to the sound mod. Only differences between MD1 are much greater freq range and less noise. MD1 gives 12...15KHz range at most, my MD2 sound mod should go up to 21...23KHz, depending on filter caps used.
