I have released the full official GEMS development kit for developing your own Megadrive music. I also released an unreleased game/demo called Ship that I compiled from the additional source code included in the floppy.

More info can be found here: http://www.hidden-palace.org/?news/c/13 Enjoy!

I will be soon recieving all the dev equipment that is required to get the Megadrive part to run, I will then post some pictures of how it works and maybe even program an emulator, so you can fully utilize this kit.

I intended to make my own dev kit, but of course, time did not allow. Maybe someday I'll get some free time to actually do it :P

It´s version 2.5 not 2.0  . Great release but most games that used Genesis Editor for Music and Sound effects sounded poorly  .

Others drivers sounded better: SMPS 68k, SMPS Z80, Krysalis/Hollingworth, Cube/Iwadare and the ones from Konami, Treasure and Namco.

Earthworm Jim hints that it should be somewhat capable: http://www.soundshock.se/dump/level5.mp3 I'd like to see if there are better sound examples though, it's not exactly breathtaking. Also, I would assume that a lot of japanese drivers were MML based? I'm curious about Factor 5's Pegasus Mega Drive, Mega Turrican had an awesome soundtrack.

I would say that it sucks... and its a sequencer not tracker... and without dev hardware there isn't too much to do with it... oh well, another reason to QUICKLY finish my own...

Any previously unreleased original development software and documentation is always a welcome addition in improving the home brew Genesis / Mega Drive Dev scene and better undestanding development. Thanks for sharing drx!

Bah, yeap !

May be this is not the best way to get better sound, but, all informations are welcome !
Because we don't have any officials things, and now, with these, we could begin to have an idea on "how to"...
I don't know if it's clear in english, but thancks again to drx for this.

"If somebody thincks that's the way is boring, he could goes around."
for the traduction, I'm not sure ;)

A+

Just a question for drx : how and from where these things end up on your site (and then in our hands  ) ?
