Well, if you can't GUARANTEE perfect sync, the Nyquist sample rate says anything over half the master frequency will just create distortion. Engineers use 2.2 instead of 2.0 for safety. Since 33kHz is well above the Nyquist rate, I'd expect it to sound like crap.
