Epicenter told me that MCD sounds good, but I need to hear it myself first... I'm pretty sure there's ways to improve audio... all systems I have encountered have room for audio mod (DC having the simplest ATM).

Sega CD's own audio is generated from the CD drives Sony chips (and they aren't cheap chips! Those chips are very good)..

Here's the situation. To reduce a hum from the video out, cut the audio out traces on the Genesis's EXP connector, to prevent audio from getting INTO Sega CD.. (or use a MD1, they don't have this feature anyway).. That way the RCA jacks on the back of the Sega CD are RAW and great HQ audio right from the Sony chip. Also make sure no mixing cable is attached.

Model 2 Sega CDs can mix via EXP port.. Model 1 Sega CD's can't.

Essentially, a Model 1 Sega Genesis, and any model Sega CD is a good combo, as long as no mixing cable is used.. That way, you can mix the CD's RCA jacks and your CCAM output, externally on your amp (if your amp can mix two sources).. The result is awesome.. My onkyo can mix up to 4 sources.

Sent you an email with a recording.. OGG Vorbis don't do justice..

Straight form my MD2

Thanks a ton, TmEE ! :D - I am very impressed. It sounds MUCH better than normal MD2 and also X'Eye (and likely Nomad and CDX too) !

I finally got my Nomad at home again, so I can test and record it too.

I think I got a broken MCD2 I could donate to you... I got lots of SEGA hardware at my parents. I need to check what works and what does not. Maybe I can even donate a working MCD2 to you.
