I readed about this early today on this site (is in SPANISH):

They are talking about 3 new sega patents,of course they are speculating about a new Sega console but maybe is something else like an arcade machine.

Interesting... but they're not exactly hardware patents. Some video game patents will include detailed descriptions of the hardware required (or preferred) but the hardware need not be unique, as in the case of console games.

And you must look at the date the patent was filed, not the "publication" date. But even then it can get confusing. For example, US7573479 is a divisional patent, which basically means it's a revision of an earlier patent (in this case, see US6500069, published 7 years earlier).

As for what these patents appear to be:

US7572188 - originally from the Dreamcast era, a method of cheat detection on saved game data
US7573479 - originally from the Saturn era, a video game involving a 3D camera and terrain system; looks like an action RPG of some kind
US7559841 - Sega Superstars (2004)
