Test games on Sega CD hardware?

Post by Bitybity » Mon Dec 31, 2012 3:40 pm

Hello.

I hate to do such stupid questions like this one (if is), but, I wanna know, who can test Sega CD games on hardware?

Great response! But to add a little more info, there's no protection on SCD games beyond simple region locking. Depending on which blob you use in the bootloader, the CD will be usable on European, US, or Japanese SCDs. There's no universal disc - you have to pick a region. If you wish your CD software to work in more than one region, you need to remake the ISO - one ISO image for each region.

My own bootloader builds all three regions so that when I make an ISO, it's easy to set the region. I can alter the makefile to build one particular region, or to build all three.

Is the Sega CD pretty flexible with what kind of burnable disc it takes? Or fussy?

I've had no trouble with CD-Rs. I doubt a CD-RW would work though.

CDRWs don't work at all. The Model 2 seems the least picky about the brand of CDR, and the CDX the most picky, in my experience.

I'm very interested with this game but the Sega CD hardware would have cost $17.64 per game :(
