vintage TV replica project
I have been planning on making a vintage TV replica... I wanted to make it look like it came from the 50's/60's, and be a COLOR TV replica.. I would be using 80's TV parts, and would modify the tube to mimick the old TV's color rendition..
Wouldn't it be cool to see a Sega CD/32X sitting on TOP of this thing?

the tube measures 13"... So, with that information, you can kinda guess it's overall size (i never bothered to measure that yet)..
Think it has a good design? I still think after I build the basic layout as shown, I might put some siding and stuff on it, to give it a "finished" look.. It will be stained, as the picture shows..

I agree with Stef, your first idea is better, more authentic

the CT-100 did have a cover

they had a cover because of the way the tube was designed, if you touched the actual glass on the tube, you'd get one hell of a shock.. i think it was because of the lack of grounding or something...
the one problem im facing in planning the construction, is making a frame to actually hold the tube..

hmm ok. Well in fact i think i just prefer rounded screen without any square covering, that made stuff too modern :pevildragon wrote:the CT-100 did have a cover

they DID have a round picture TUBE though, they just had a cover make it more rectangular.. I got an old tube based black and white TV, that happens to hate my Genesis (the TV squeals with the Genesis on, and has a rolling picture)... it's picture tube is "semi rectangular", meaning, it's shaped as a rectangular, but it still has a massive curve in the shape.
