A/V cables for Genesis II

Post by djcouchycouch » Sat Feb 18, 2012 7:38 pm

Hi,

Do the AV Cables for Genesis II give it a that much better picture than with the RF box? I'm not expecting s-video/component quality, but for the 5 or 6 bucks some are selling it online I wonder if it's a good, cheap upgrade.

Thanks,
DJCC.

At my point of view, RGB câble offert better image than RF câble.

Sadly, RGB câble includes a pcb wich swith TV to AV channel, and this pcb parasitizes video signal.

A mod exist to repair those defect câbles. After this you'll have a clear image :)

Edit : AV câble, you mean RGB câble right?

I'm not a hardware modder, so I'm limited to the cables available :)

I have a North American Genesis II. I understand that PAL Megadrive consoles can do RGB through scart.

Yes, and i own several US MDII, i plug them with french rgb cord & it works perfectly. (but will the system output rgb signal? i'm not sure)

The mod is very simple. Just have to open scart, cut the power line of the circuit, and that's all (excellent french site : http://www.segakore.fr/articles/mod_cable_rgb_md2.html )

Just have to cut those point A & B

If you don't want to do any mod, i dunno what câble could be good for you.
Nevertheless, i'm sure there better cable than RF ;)

I suppose I'd need a tv that supports scart for that to work for me. I don't have one and there aren't very many in Canada :)

Hum, sorry, i didn't thought your tvs was so different :|

Witch cables could you use with your genesis if you've no scart?

he must talk about the RCA cable (with Yellow, Red and White connectors)

That's what I figure. My sprites are nothing but blobs on screen.

Has anybody ever taken a scart cable and used it on a north american Genesis II with a scart-to-component converter? Expensive?
