By simulating this stretch, you are not emulating a TV but emulating the analogic video signal which the genesis outputs, which is really important to maintain correct aspect ratio. It's also important to note that this is the *ONLY* place where an image is generated. The genesis has no 'frame buff...

This can't be correct! Bah, no. That only works if your screen is also 4:3. Widescreen monitors weren't exactly common when I made the last build ;) Actually this mode was really created for people who wanted to run it through TV Out. Fixed Aspect (Fit) looks correct to me, but the video is centere...

Snake, I have to say that I love Kega. Thank you for all your work. Why doesn't Kega output an image that's the largest 4:3 ratio for the indicated resolution? This has something to do with the overscan borders, no? Not really the best place to discuss this but anyway... It does :) Basically, it ou...

AamirM wrote:Unlike Kega, I am not emulating a TV :P . So, with stretching off, what you see is what a Genesis produces.
Well, no it isn't. It isn't the TV that 'stretches' these images. It's the way they are output.

Thanks for that. Shame it doesn't work, but I can see why.

I must say however, the self-feedback implementation still baffles me. MAME adds the last two samples together to build the self-feedback modulation value. This seems to be correct, but I can't figure out why it's correct, or rather, why the guys at Yamaha chose to implement it this way. Two answer...

If it helps - I can't speak for other emulators, but I do know Kega gets this stuff right.

Nice test, much better than the ones I wrote ;)

I was wondering why was that (if you remember of course). Hmm, I have no idea, I'd have to see exactly what those games are doing, and even then that might only give me an *idea* why. When I get the chance I'll check it out and see if I can hear what you're reporting. Ok, quick postage of some inte...

Ok, from what I know, *most* chips that have an embedded DAC do indeed use that one. But in the YM2612? It's 9 bit instead of 10... Unfortunately I can't remember where I got this info.

I find it quite hard to undestand why he doesn't post here... :( :?: Well one reason would be that I didn't know of it's existance ;) I've spent the best part of the last 4 years being almost completely absent from the internet. And, yeah, life is more than a bit evil right now. I won't go into it ...
