Well, no it isn't. It isn't the TV that 'stretches' these images. It's the way they are output.

Yeah, I don't think you can update those registers fast enough anyway.

I must say however, the self-feedback implementation still baffles me. MAME adds the last two samples together to build the self-feedback modulation value. This seems to be correct, but I can't figure out why it's correct, or rather, why the guys at Yamaha chose to implement it this way. Two answer...

If it helps - I can't speak for other emulators, but I do know Kega gets this stuff right.

Ok, from what I know, *most* chips that have an embedded DAC do indeed use that one. But in the YM2612? It's 9 bit instead of 10... Unfortunately I can't remember where I got this info.
