It's basically like a poor MOD format with teeny tiny looping samples. I'm always looking for teeny tiny looping samples as that's what you need for music on the SEGA CD if you're not using the FM or CDDA. The PCM chip in the CD is designed for teeny tiny looping samples. :D I just never understood...

It isn't really the output stage that's the problem, it's all caused by distortion present in the chip. Obviously there isn't any point trying to fake this, you need to get it right. It's the last part of the puzzle that I really need to solve, but it takes time and a lot of effort, and real life (...

Stef backs me up for the win! B&R has great music if you love industrial/ebm/crazy maxed out IDM stuff. Melodically it's not Kyd's best work but the texture of its sound is amazing, and the total use of FM has a place in my heart too. Those tunes are a bit repetitive imo, there are other games with ...

What about rsynth?

It's based on some really old, bad public domain code but it's marginally understandable and it sounds cool, haha

It doesn't really look like a TV though. It's way too jaggy, and I can't see any colour bleeding or other analog artifacts on that screenshot. Blargg has a good filter that simulates an NTSC TV signal http://www.fly.net/~ant/libs/ntsc.html . I don't know if anything similar exists for PAL though. :...

I think that thing looks ridiculous. Blargg's filter is just about dead on, but even it's not quite as noisy as I think is accurate for Never The Same Color  emulation. Everyone seems to think that dark scanlines = TV look. I've always wanted to do a kpi plug based on the xscreensaver apple2 c...

No offense, but there's no way anybody will ever port Garou Mark of the Wolves to the Megadrive. That game used something like 800mbits, the Megadrive can't even address 1/20 of that size. If it is ported, it would have to be downgraded at exorbital levels - to the point that it's a completely diff...

Digging up this thread but I have to put my two bits in-- I can't stand most SPC music out of the SNES, both real console and emulated. It's basically like a poor MOD format with teeny tiny looping samples. Some games sounded great but 90% of them sounded cheap. (To the SNES fanboys though, I guess ...

my introduction

Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster. I guess this is the most appropriate section to post an intro in. I'm not really a genny dever, but I'm a huge MD fanatic from way back, I'm technically inclined, and I love seeing what people accomplish on the hardware. I'm mainly a musician and I'm get...
