I recall Steve saying that Kega focuses on getting the games running, and not the hardware test roms (unlike other emulators), and as a consequence this test rom fails miserably on Kega (but compatibility with games is the best out of all 32x emus).

Something like that.

32x, maybe. Sega CD, probably no.

Personally, what I would love to see is Metal Slug ported to mega cd.

Nice choice for fonts. I almost thought it was HTML before I read your post.

Huh, for a minute I thought this was about those analog megadrive pads used by, I think, AfterburnerII.

Last time I checked (in 2003, mind you), there were no european dumps of Alisia Dragoon, only a Japanese and a UE one.

Even still there are some games such as Alisia Dragoon, where the speed of some songs are off Ah, that's just an NTSC vs PAL issue. Set the country code correctly and it's fine. It may also be a rom issue, my copy of alisia dragoon plays the music at the same speed in both 50hz and 60hz mode (even ...

As for ripping the laserdiscs, the MAME team has implemented a few advanced techniques for this recently, and they are using it for the Dragon's Lair-era games. Though, from what I've recall, their format is something like 10 gigabytes per disc (partly because they store it losslessly (?)).

There are signs that they experimented with using PCM for the complete soundtrack, but nothing came out of that. (some of the samples can be found in one of the beta versions)

Complaining 'it's too repetitive' about techno or trance music is just ridiculous. It's supposed to be repetitive. Could you complain 'classical music sucks, it has no drums'? ... plenty of classical music uses drums - and numerous other types of percussion -, and there are many techno/trance tunes...

Those tunes are a bit repetitive imo, there are other games with better melodies. You should check out Scorcher on the Saturn however. It is also done by the same team (Scavenger, with music by Jesper Kyd), the music uses only the internal chip and no cd audio (minus for one tune that I never got to...

No offense, but there's no way anybody will ever port Garou Mark of the Wolves to the Megadrive. That game used something like 800mbits, the Megadrive can't even address 1/20 of that size. For today, ~128MB cart (using banking) is not so big problem. In any case, a lot of downgrade would be necessa...
