Sheath, you are correct in that it's just my opinion that SMS compatibility isn't something I think is a huge deal for the Genesis. But from my perspective back then I was completely unaware of the SMS. Never once saw it in a store. Ofcourse, I ordered a Neo Myth MD recently and do plan to try out t...

I'm not sure why you put compatibility with SMS as some big plus. To most in North America, SMS means nothing to them. Of all the features in the Genesis, it's pretty clear doing whatever was necessary to get more Color RAM should have been done. I really think if they had been able to get a glimpse...

I don't understand why you belittle the PC-Engine's 32 "sub-palettes" cause no game you've seen used them all. I would agree they didn't need to go quite that far, 16 would have been enough. But it's not the hardware designers fault if you never saw software that you could tell used it. But even tho...

That is a good point about the multiplying effect of the cost. But I think at 5$ you could just pass that on to the consumer. You don't have to make 5$ more profit per console. If you do, you are perhaps greedy. I highly doubt that the shadow and highlight could be used in a game situation to the sa...

Thank you so much. I'm going to try them out as soon as I get a chance. notaz, people kept telling me that but all the 32 megabit games I tested didn't care if I changed random bytes in them. And I did not have auto-fix checksum on. Also, the other reason you suggestion won't work is because with ba...

I said it "seems inexcusable to me". As In I don't understand nor could I think of a reason for this to be the way it is. Eke, I had not even though about Color RAM being embedded raising the cost. I suppose that makes sense. But that just leaves me to wonder what the cost would have been to double ...

The VDP supports different paletes for sprites and BGs, but you need external CRAM and RAMDAC for it like some arcade HW got that uses exact same VDP that MD uses. Well you know what I mean in that having more sets of colors to use for sprites and tiles could have gone a long way. Afterall the NES ...

It's still related to what the hardware can do. Certainly if you put the effort into whatever you are doing you can get better results within your hardware limitations than if you are lazy. But eventually it will come down to what the hardware can do. I'm not sure who said it but it was probably tom...

Help with Copier RAM Test
I have a Copier for MD called the Double Pro Fighter. I've had some issues with it that I've heard could be caused by the RAM on the RAM module going bad. I would like to be able to perform a software test on it, but the BIOS provides none so it must be done indirectly. I don't have much of any expe...
