Hi, I thought writing worked but reading didn't. So, Mamono Hunter Youko doesn't seem to be doing anything wrong. stay safe, AamirM No, it's completely blocked in both directions. I think Sega did this on purpose. It definitely *did* work on some early hardware. But given that it was probably a ver...

sorry, I forget to ask: could you do a recording of Ecco: the Tide of Time 's splash sound (first level, do some jump out of the water, Gens is reproducing the sound more realistic than other emulators though I don't know if realistic=reality) thanks again Kega has this game 100% correct. In fact, ...

Not quite. The Chinese often do. Yeah, I know. I just love these chips and the thought of even one being destroyed, for any reason... *shudder* this must be something else going on Yep. Doesn't make any sense at all, does it? I'd like to hear this particular sound from a known completely unmodified...

This is why I think for all ym2612 tests on real hardware, data should be captured as soon as it exits the dac on the ym2612 chip Indeed. But most YM chips output digitally to an external DAC. The YM2612 has the DAC and other things internally. There is some filtering that goes on BEFORE the signal...

As I said, these sounds will have been created on an original NTSC Genesis 1. Therefore however it sounds on one of those is how it was intended to sound. This particular story gets even more interesting. I had someone test it on an NTSC Genesis 2. Guess what? It sounds pretty much exactly the same ...

No. Its just this game. Well as you can clearly hear from the samples now provided, the later chips are quite different to the original. And as I pointed out, this stuff was all created on the earlier models. Kega has this right, based on a real YM2612, which is, after all, what I'm trying to emula...

If you can get something that sounds as bad as what Aamir posted, please do tell... I can tell you that it was not meant to sound like that. All GEMS stuf...

Never thought I would have to optimize the code someday  I'd offer, but I don't much like PPC ;) well, according to Nemesis That's their way of eliminating the attack phase. When Rate = 62 or 63 during attack, the attack phase is skipped. MAME use this calculation to immediately force the res...
