I supose it would be possible, vgm files though are usually very consuming on space, so there is only a limited number of games in which you could get more that a couple of tracks on. That's why you want to make a player for Mega CD? It would be really cool having the entire library on one or a few ...

There are loads! No licensed ones ofcourse. One of the most common ones is Divine Sealing, a vertical scrolling shooter with nude pictures between the stages. Terrible game that fetches quite a lot of dough (sometimes in the $100 range).

EDIT: do you think it's possible to add FM support to SMS VGM files when run in the player?

To sum up that bable I shall state here and now as what I belive to be a fact. There is no chance of getting the genesis to play vgz files:- well maybe very simple ones but not dac sample filled ones. Its working at its max just to play standard vgm's I see. I know nothing about programming, but I ...

Well that's rare, not even Sonic would count in that case. Vectorman is a good suggestion. Some characters I associate with MD:

Pulseman (exclusive!)
Kid Chameleon (exclusive!)
Ristar (also on GG)
Dynamite Headdy (also on GG, SMS)
Flicky (also in the arcades)
Ecco (ton of systems)
Michael Jackson ...

Thanks MG, although, that's not really what I meant. I'm curious if there are any games using the GEMS driver that sound better than EWJ.

It´s version 2.5 not 2.0  . Great release but most games that used G enesis E ditor for M usic and S ound effects sounded poorly  .
Others drivers sounded better: SMPS 68k, SMPS Z80, Krysalis/Hollingworth, Cube/Iwadare and the ones from Konami, Treasure and Namco.
