Re: MegaLD Dumping Project

That latter link is VERY promising, since that would allow us to at least preserve the contents of the discs, even if we don't have what it takes to decode them right now. The data section of the disc should be relatively easy to identify because it's all based on CD. The issue with that would be ge...

Re: MegaLD Dumping Project

I'm gonna have the PAC looked at.

Regardless, looks like Nemesis is MIA :( He's the last hope, unless he is willing to distribute his custom hardware and software to another pair of capable hands.

Re: MegaLD Dumping Project

Knock knock! Anybody home? I'm writing/checking in on this initiative tonight because I come bearing some bad news - while trying to find a buyer for my LaserActive hardware, my Sega PAC has unfortunately ceased working. Since I had a full capacitor swap on it the day I got it, I dread to find out w...

Just letting those on the project know that I'm sadly going to have to be selling off my LaserActive collection in whole (at some point in the coming months). Thus, I won't have any discs out for lend. However, it looks like you've already got what I have in my collection covered.

Just an FYI, this thread may get a lot of outside traffic in about a month or so. Can't say anything more, but prepare. I gotta get the blog up to snuff, too. The suspense is killing me.... Note: MAY get a lot of traffic. The article on EDGE Online mentioning this effort just went live today, so no...

I think the phenomenon I observed/charted (price of Melon Brains winning bids going down by a sizable portion on average after the footage went up, with the English version still going for more than the Japanese on average due to language barrier) only happened because there's not much to "play" in ...

I'm not so sure about that for all cases... I know that at least temporarily, the market value of Melon Brains took quite a dip after I posted the majority of the disc's footage on Youtube.

It looks like i'm problably a spammer has been brainwashed by 3D Museum... As for the porn games, they're pretty pathetic. Gambling, photographs, etc., all the things you'd usually find in early 90's eroge, except this time using FMV because they could afford to. A lot of the porn games (Virtual Cam...

Once this project moves a bit further along, maybe you could pop down to Melbourne as we have (barring the Myst prototype and 3D Virtual Australia) all other titles on one format or the other. Not sure how heavy or difficult to move your 'dubbing' equipment. We also have all the PAC's, goggles, etc...

Willy, keep in mind that ALL Mega-LD and LD-ROM^2 discs, regardless of region, are encoded in NTSC-J. This means IRE black levels of 0.0 instead of the NTSC-U standard of 7.5, among other things. Not sure if it's relevant to the discussion, but just clarifying for future reference. Also, to Nemesis ...

Oh, a couple of corrections I'd like to make to your list before we start: -Steel Driver was never released. Chop it off your list. -The Myst Mega-LD prototype exists (at varying stages of completion), and I know someone who has it. However, I will make no promises whether or not that person will be...

I just got your email! It got picked up by Google's spam filter. In my personal collection, I have 5 games, which I would love to contribute. Pyramid Patrol Hyperion Rocket Coaster 3D Museum Triad Stone I also have worked with a couple of people who own some rare games like Don Quixote, Goku, and Gh...
