Second Dimension Releases & Updates
Hey everyone! I wanted to start a thread with all of the Second Dimension info in one location rather than have a thread for each game/release/publication I do, and also a place to give information on any currently in progress projects. The Second Dimension Website: First, I'd like to talk about the...

Re: Mega Marble World - Fail!
It doesn't cost anything to run a kickstarter, you just have to do the advertising yourself, then when you get the money, you pay for manufacturing. I would imagine the system is universal worldwide in that regard. Like I mentioned before - I'd be happy to publish and profit share, but you want to s...

Re: Mega Marble World - Fail!
Also, I can produce 2mb flash boards for the Genesis/mega drive, but the problem is the equipment setup isn't cheap (requires an EPROM programmer, a 16bit adapter, and a custom cart slot). When I launch the updated web shop, I'll be offering DIY kits that include a brand new clam shell, cartridge sh...

Re: Mega Marble World - Fail!
We really need a way to make cartridges that don't involve somebody trying to hog the whole thing for themselves. Maybe even cartridges on demand, because the demand isn't very high. That'd also kill off the assholes that try to hoard cartridges then resell them for a large price on eBay. Until I c...

Re: Mega Marble World - Fail!
Sik, I think you're way off base here. SegaTim was trying to sell the IP, not get it published. His intent is to make money off of it - there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, I had assumed he wanted a publishing deal rather than sell the rights outright. Also, nobody has a "lock on the market". I...

Re: Mega Marble World - Fail!
I wouldn't bash any of them. However I am gutted to hear that most of the contracts seem to involve handing over your work and ceasing ownership. I did offer a publishing deal that would pay royalties, but he wanted to sell the game rights outright. I would love to publish the game for him, but his...

Re: Mega Marble World - Fail!
Here's some of the issues that you didn't take into consideration for publishers: 100 copies sold at $40 would be $4,000 and 200 copies would be $8,000 - you're right on those. What you don't take into consideration is that it costs about $15 to $20 in parts per copy. Let's use $15 as the magic numb...

Re: Question about layering and priorities
That's what I thought, thanks Stef I'll just have everything drop a few shades down via palette shifting. It looks fine this way, but was hoping there was an alternate method.

Question about layering and priorities
I think I know the answer to this, but I'll ask anyway: Is it possible to have a Sprite behind a graphic plane without setting priorities on either the Sprite or bg plane? Basically what I want to do is enable shadow mode without having background elements be the normal colors. I don't think this is...

Re: A few questions :)
Hey everyone, I have a few more questions :) First new question: Is there a way to trigger a soft reset without having to write your own "reboot" process. I know you can check in the bootup vector to see if the console had a soft reset or a hard reset, but unsure if there's a way through code to "pu...

Re: RAM not cleared on reset
And this assumes you're building it yourself - cartridges aren't mass produced because they don't sell that much, so they're soldered by hand, and more parts to solder means more work and if you're getting somebody else to do it (which you will want to do if you have more than a few dozen cartridge...

Re: A few questions :)
Thanks for all of the information everyone!
charles, thanks for that bit of info. I guess using a checksum routine would be the way to go for game genie detection
As for why I want to know, it's just for general information.
