Any progress on this? I just got a TX81Z myself, and I'd love to try out some Genesis tunes on it :)

The new site looks great - I can't wait to see how this turns out. Is there anything like a progress report for this project?

Oh yikes. A full DOOM colormap is 8.5 KB, so it's a good bet that's in the SDRAM, but yeah, the textures are far too huge to fit in the SDRAM, even for a single level. (Why, oh why could they not have outfitted the 32X with more RAM?) So would this overclocking project speed up the 68K as well? If i...

From what people have said elsewhere on the boards, 32X DOOM 's principle problem is poor division of labor - all the rendering is handled by one SH-2, while the other handles the sound mixing that the 68K could be doing. So I'm not sure overclocking would actually help that much, at least not nearl...

I guess they didn't want to take the time to write a better player or try to make it sound good when they could make it simply good enough (if even that.) There's really only a few kinds of sounds you can't do very well on FM if you try, but a lot of Genesis games don't even go that far (*cough* 32X...

Yet another proof of concept to show that a game's music could've been way better if the coders knew how to work an FM chip: "Grabbag," the Duke Nukem 3D theme. Compare this to the Tec-Toy port.

Hey, for a rushed production, it was pretty good - I liked the music, though it could've been a little longer/more elaborate.

That looks pretty darn good, especially for a homebrew game. Very cool. Is the music original as well? Also, the YouTube page mentions both Genesis and Sega CD versions - what will be added to the SCD version?

Speaking of the Zyrinx demo, does anyone know whether there was ever a ROM dump for that obtained, or where I could contact any former members of Zyrinx to find out? I want to run that on an emulator, since the video quality of the Youtube clip is so iffy.

She's not someone you hear of and think "oh, Sega," but Talon from Revengers Of Vengeance is too awesome to not mention: http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/3998/talonkr5.png http://img463.imageshack.us/img463/6578/talon2dl9.png http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/5484/talon3lh3.png http://img88.imagesh...

I don't think you could use the square-wave channels to do the NES's pulse channels for two reasons: one, the NES has adjustable pulse width where the Genesis's chip does not, and two, the Genesis's chip, in the grand Yamaha tradition, uses logarithmic volume levels where everybody else, NES include...

Resampling would be CPU-heavy, but looping isn't very complicated...then again, when you're running the whole player on a 4MHz Z80, I suppose you can only pull off so much at once.
