Re: Problem building tools

Hi Montserrat, indeed it's been a while. It appears the dropbox link inside that script for your linux problem is dead. I have a working umdk dev environment on my laptop, complete with sgdk built. This version of sgdk is quite old, I think current version is 1.40 (I have not tried to build a newer ...

Re: Coming Soon(ish)... probably [Update - 15/06]

I'm interested for sure. already have one umdk, but not gold plated so might want a second kit. At the very least I'm interested in a cartridge case!

Re: programming noob, hi forums! Advice please!

I already have a GCW Zero... Would this be easy to develop for? Just seen as how I already own one. I have a GCW-Zero as well. There are some alternatives for you here. You could look into Bennu as the interpreter is built into the system. It's very easy to learn, like basic. This is how I first st...

Re: UMDK manufacturing, part 2: Software

Both of my PAL-G Mega Drive MD1s (one with a region switch, and one stock unmodified) have the VA6 motherboard and have the freezing and crashing problem. Don't know if this information is worth anything, just thought I'd point it out. Sorry about not posting and testing much lately, very busy at wo...

Re: UMDK manufacturing: new RUN of testers! 5 more kits aviable!

Yes, Montserrat was very clear about the process from the very beginning and the chance that our kits might not work before we ordered and paid. Both here and in private emails between all of us. I went in it with the expectation that there WOULD be hardware and software faults getting the kits we o...

Re: UMDK manufacturing, part 2: Software

Ok, I tried the new files and now my umdk also boots to the menu program without workaround method. Great work prophet! :) I actually thought I had a crash happen with the sd-card inserted, because it showed the menu program text for a split second and then went to a black screen. But actually I did...

Re: UMDK manufacturing, part 2: Software

Unrelated, but I also uploaded two different traces for when Sonic 1 crashes over USB. The first one, comes up with a message on SEGA screen saying "Line 1111 Emulator $00071FCA" And here the second one, it shows "Address Error $00071FC6$010041D5" on the same SEGA screen. Sounds like a dirty cart s...

Re: UMDK manufacturing, part 2: Software

Since I have the same problem with not reading from SD-card I uploaded a trace reaching the menu (running in PAL mode) http://dump.ettfyratre.se/umdk/boot-trace.log.bz2 (39 MB) And also, here is my firmware.bin: http://dump.ettfyratre.se/umdk/firmware.bin.bz2 ----------- EDIT Unrelated, but I also u...

Re: UMDK manufacturing, part 2: Software

loader -t boot-trace.log I tried it, but sadly I'm unable to trace anything this way. No dots are appearing in the terminal if I use loader like that, or adding the -x 2 flag. I only get the dots to appear if I load up a rom file as well. (which gives me the makestuff splashscreen) Tried many times...

Re: UMDK manufacturing, part 2: Software

Oh, Montserrat, I was under the impression that your nomad would only ever show a black screen, even with the workaround. So normally it gets to Reading files from SD and stops there and never lists any files? Is it normally possible to use loader again at this point to load up a game and run gdb-br...

Re: UMDK manufacturing, part 2: Software

my Firmware.bin is also 1280 bytes. I'm guessing the menu program failed to build. Try building it manually and see why it fails, execute ./rel in its folder. But probably it failed because some tools for the crosscompiler didn't get built right. I had the same problem on my arch linux, but on debi...

Re: UMDK manufacturing, part 2: Software

Well. I'm getting a different md5 sum than yours, and I did the test a few times (5 so far) and was having a different md5 each time. I made sure to keep tracing for 20-30 seconds. Using the loader to run a game after, works. But with inconsistent results. Like the image I posted on the last page ru...

Re: UMDK manufacturing, part 2: Software

gdb-bridge also confirmed working perfectly. Just tried out all the stuff from the videos Chris posted with ddd and it's working perfectly.. Now I have all the tools to make, test and debug games I write for MD! This is still a workaround though. The umdk doesn't get to the menu (or allow ...

Re: UMDK manufacturing, part 2: Software

Ok, I did the method described above to get to the menu. From there i run loader normally and try to run sonic. First up, sonic1.bin http://puu.sh/lEXaV/072a71a986.png I had this error pop up and freeze the md. Sonic2.bin: http://puu.sh/lEXfQ/47543dc84a.png It worked fine loaded over usb to the umdk...
