Re: Atari ST/AMIGA mouse on SEGA?

You got 3 buttons and a scroll wheel on vast majority of modern mice. The scroll wheel can be the 4th button.

Re: HDD (or flash) instead of a CD, questions...

To clarify, only SDATA can carry any data. BCLK and LRCLK are always retaining their function. LRCLK length can vary, allowing different word lengths on SDATA.

Re: HDD (or flash) instead of a CD, questions...

There's always 3 lines, Bit Clock, LR Clock and Serial Data. Bit Clock is what everything is synchronized to and it tells when there's a new bit in the stream on Serial Data, LR clock tells when data starts/ends. http://www.tmeeco.eu/BitShit/I2Sstuff.png (this image is illustrative, LRCLK polarity i...

Re: Atari ST/AMIGA mouse on SEGA?

Pinouts differ (VCC is in a totally different place), with a small modification those things could be used. No idea how hostile the protocol is, it might be better idea to just make your own adaptor and have existing Sega mice compatibility there, far more useful for most people I imagine.

Re: Blastem 0.5.0 - Many accuracy improvements, basic SMS support, runs OD2

I have an extra tidbit about the offsetting problem. it seems to happen in 50Hz+interlacing, one of interlace mode demos produces same kind of shift of the image as the menu ROM. 1:1 pixel option with zoom is probably best way to go about it. Another interesting thing would be to option have blankin...

Re: Blastem 0.5.0 - Many accuracy improvements, basic SMS support, runs OD2

The menu ROM seems to display the image with an offset (slightly to right, a lot towards bottom, OS mouse cursor shows the extend of the offsetting) : http://www.tmeeco.eu/BitShit/Temp/IMG_0008.jpg And when I run a ROM I get "Failed to lock texture: LockRect(): INVALIDCALL" message, after ...

Re: Please help consolidate Megadrive info for pixel artists

At least as far as of consoles go, the "theory" is wrong on every count if you are going for authentic mockups: the MD, for example, renders 320- and 256-pixel wide lines with the same physical lenght: they images produced have the same physical aspect ratio, even though they have differe...

Re: Please help consolidate Megadrive info for pixel artists

I suppose the most important thing is that the RGB color levels are not linear. This thread has all the relevant info about the video output : http://gendev.spritesmind.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2188 Unlike 8 bit consoles, there is not a fixed number of unique tiles that can be used, as you...

Re: Large ROM images and Sega CD + 32X

When MCD is connected the 400000...7FFFFF range will have MCD BIOS and other bits of it visible there. When you disable the check stuff will probably run but sooner or later there will be hardware damage due to bus fighting that happens betwees MCD and the everdrive cart. Cart side tends to win over...

Re: Titan's Mega Drive tech docs including Debug Register

There is no mirroring effect going on when the width is 64 tiles, only the first 32 rows get used, when the width is 32 tiles it does produce the mirroring effect, 0...31, 0...31, 64...95, 64...95. EDIT : I tested out all combinations : H V 00 00 - 32x32 00 01 - 32x64 00 10 - See above 00 11 - 32x12...

Re: Info on mapper used for UMK3 hack

Flat mapping with !DTACK generation in 9th and 10th MByte. It won't work with 32X present, and causes bus fights when MCD is present.

Re: Paprium and it's sound engine

32X sends audio through cart to MD. AV in to AV out is just a passthrough. The loading is very easy to take care of. Something like this is able to drive even 2 ohm speakers without drop (assuming you use transistors with right current rating and don't go overboard with emmiter resistors) in level a...
